When, from any application, I go to the Services menu and run "calculator", it works 's just the keyboard shortcut that's not working. When I try running the service in automator with the 'run' button, it opens the calculator, just like I expected. Then, go to system preferences, keyboard, shortcuts, find Services, then the automator service I just created, "calculator", turn it on, set the shortcut (F4 in my case, but I've tried several others with no luck). I've followed instructions for creating a keyboard shortcut to open an application, but it's not working, it just beeps when I press F4.Īll the instructions out there seem to be the same - using Automator, create a service (note *1 below), have it Launch Application (Calculator, in my case), then save it ("calculator"). My goal is to open Calculator.app with the F4 key. keys as standard function keys", then uncheck again, and it seems to resolve the issue. In Karabiner-Elements Preferences, under Function Keys, you need to check "Use all F1, F2 etc. I don't see an option to delete this message, but I've resolved it:
